Senior Session at Sterling State Park | Austin’s Session

There’s something special about photographing senior sessions at Sterling State Park. Between the lake views, tall grasses, and soft evening light, it creates the perfect backdrop for a relaxed, natural session—and Austin’s session was a perfect example of that.

Austin came in ready to go, and from the start, he made my job easy. He had a laid-back personality that translated so well on camera, and that’s exactly what I always encourage seniors to bring—just be yourself.

Sterling State Park offers so much variety in one location, which is why I love bringing seniors here. During Austin’s session, we were able to capture:

• Lake Erie shoreline views for that open, scenic feel
• Natural grassy areas that add texture and warmth
• Wooded spots for a more shaded, relaxed look
• Sunset lighting that gives that golden glow everyone loves

The best part? We didn’t have to go far to get completely different looks.

Tips for Your Senior Session at Sterling State Park

• Watch the weather – wind can be part of the look, but we’ll plan accordingly
• Trust me with timing – I’ll guide you to the best light of the day

Flash?

Both have their own look, but this is where it gets interesting…

• Natural light gives a softer, more airy feel
• Flash brings out richer color, sharper detail, and really helps in tricky lighting situations

Personally, I love how flash can enhance color—especially when the light isn’t perfect. It helps bring everything to life in a way that natural light sometimes just can’t on its own.
